Terms of Use
Last updated: October 12, 2026
MemStats is free, open source software. These terms are short and plain.
License
MemStats is released under the MIT License. You may use, copy, modify and distribute it under the conditions in that license. If these terms and the MIT License ever conflict, the MIT License wins.
No warranty
The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. This includes fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Values are indicative
Process memory comes from top, which reports in a different unit and accounts shared memory differently from Activity Monitor. Numbers in MemStats are an estimate to help you spot heavy users, not an exact measurement. Do not rely on them for billing, capacity planning or any decision where precision matters.
Unsigned build and first launch
The app is not notarized yet, so macOS asks for confirmation on first launch. Open System Settings, Privacy and Security, and click Open Anyway. Only download MemStats from the official GitHub Releases page.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the authors and contributors are not liable for any claim, damages or other liability arising from the use of, or inability to use, the software or this website.
Your use
You are responsible for using MemStats in line with the laws and policies that apply to you. On a shared Mac, the app can show process names and user names of other accounts, so use it only on machines where you are entitled to see that information.
Updates and changes
There is no automatic update. We may change the app, this website or these terms at any time. Updated terms are posted on this page with a new date, and continued use means you accept them.
Privacy
How the app and this site handle data is described in the Privacy Policy.
